Question Vacuum leak help

Hey guys,

I am not highly experienced, and I am needing some help with what I think is a vacuum leak. I have recently been experiencing RPM's that will consistently go up and down randomly while driving down the road at the same speed. I thought it may be a vacuum leak, so I popped the hood and noticed there was a nipple with nothing attached to it. I have not been able to find what is supposed to attach to this, if anything, and I am wondering if any of you guys can direct me. Here is a photo. The area of concern is circled in red on the right:

This is a 1996 inline 6 cyl 4WD XJ. Let me know if you have other questions or thoughts. Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Trying to find an image of a "96 down Jeep where I can see that. On '97 and up the nipples are on the side of the intake manifold. Go to the help wall at any auto parts store buy the cover for the nipple. See what happens.

Yep, or just stick a "temporary" piece of black electrical tape or duct tape over it to see if blocking it off makes it run better.

I was going to just tell him to put his finger over it but then I realized he said it happens when driving. LOL.
