Will a vacuum dana 30 work in a Xj that came with a none vacuum dana 30?

Yes it will but you will need a posi-lok or something to engage it, cause the vacuum parts needed wont be on your xj

Alright well has anyone ever welded the 2 piece axle shafts together were it vacuums together?

You can't weld those two axle pieces together, you could use a bolt in the disco shift fork instead of the vac pod to lock the two axles engaged, you could use a one piece passenger side axle (long) and you would require an oil seal at the differential. I use the posilock cable system (the vac is unreliable). The bolt is the cheapest and quickest, if your vac pod is in good condition you could sell it to someone else.

you can manually move the collar over and put a hose clamp next to it to permanently engage it. I did, been running it for over a year. It is my dd and I wheel it hard.
