Unhappy ~update~ help me out please!!

Since i guess none of you guys have seen my 93 jeep build, and thats where i need most of my help from you guys, iv decided to just END it and ask questions that are more important. I havealot of question but am going to go one by one so that yall can answer right, plus this might be helpfull for other people as well.

First off. Ive been running straight pipes on m 93.(YES I AM AWARE THAT CHEROKEEFORUM DOES NOT SPEAK OF STRAIGHT PIPES NORE RUNNING WITH OUT A CAT) But its not my fault, i had a friend of mine weld my new cherry bomb glass back on and he did a horrible job, so when i took it off roading after the whole cat with glass back, flew off and there all messed up, so thats why iv been running straights since Last friday, any ways.

My jeep doesnt want to start now, i was driving it today, and when i went to park it in reverse it shut off on me, then it dident want to start till i let cool off for a bit, its been happening for about 2 days now, where it has trouble starting up, IDK WHAT IT IS, i think its from runnoing with straight pipes, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT IT MIGHT BE!!

Lack of backpressure, put an exhaust back on it.

I don't think the lack of back pressure from a lacking exhaust would cause a total shutdown would it? I've heard some guys complain of their CPS wire melting against the exhaust pipes. Check the CPS. Make sure spark and fuel is getting where it needs to go. However, with your rig starting once it's cooled down, I think Defiance is closer to your issue. Maybe something is funking up in your engine because of the straights. Test the CPS, make sure fuel and spark are present, but do so next time it dies. And get a new exhaust on there... it could very well solve your problem.

I think the cps is a good start. Check your o2 sensor, coolant temp sensor, and knock sensor. Your tps may just need adjustment to compensate for the lack of back pressure. Btw, your cat converter won't make your exhaust cooler, it makes it hotter.

Well This morning i went to crank her up and she startd fine, she ran pretty fine till i got to skool. i parked her in reverse and she kept running. left her running, and all of a sudden it starts to shut off till i ran to it and gave it gas, i took it around the corner and it completely shut off on me, tried to start it but it wouldent start. Waited abot 15 min and it cranked up with some work, and if id let go of the gas it would shut off. I then went and put on my old muffler and when i head home it ran fin till i got in my drive way and it shut off once agian an it took forever for it to start. I dont know whats wrong, my head is all cumfused. She was running perfectly fine 4 days ago. Yes am getting fuel, yes my fuel pump works, yes am getting plenty of air, put am not sure if my distriputor is messe up, i mean even if it was a ba distributor it woulent even start nore run in park. Am just clueless right now.

Throttle Position Sensor? You said it dies when you let off the gas. Check your IAC as well.

Idle Air Control. Basically a little motor driven valve that let's your engine breathe and idle when the throttle is closed.

Check all sensors and check cap and rotar, plugs ect. Put exhaust back on and take pos battery cable off to reset things. You mite have thrown things off when the sudden change in pressure happened. The air fuel mix or throttle sounds off all sensor stuff

According to the Haynes manual the causes of "Engine hard to start when hot" are: Air filter dirty....Fuel not reaching injectors (Check for vapor lock situation)....Bad engine ground connection...Choke sticking...Defective pick-up coil...Float level to high.

It can and most of the time will screw up all the computor readings thus causing it to shut off or stall out whatever you wish to call it.
