if your play in the water alot then maybe you should put something there. I ripped mine off cause they were in the way when I needed to work on it. But I havint had any problems. I play in the water to but I don't just bellyflop in and cover my whole engine in water.

I would rip it out, but find another way to shield the alternator if you're ever going to be splashing in deep mud. I just had to replace my alt yesterday because I took my splash shield out.

I've been waiting for this thread. I have mine rigged up with gorilla tape right now. So it's okay to just take this thing off? I'll pretty much only be in trouble if I got driving into water.
That doesn't mean if I splash through a puddle in the road I'm going to destroy my alternator right?

Roger, I imagine that the little splash guard wouldn't help in deep water anyways. Extra weight is coming off today and going to the dumpster. Good thing I didn't spill money to buy a new one.

X 10 on this one. The thing keeps cool air from coming in but, doesn't keep the water from coming so I ditched mine.
