Under hood light link?
Hi all, I have a 2001 Cherokee, and my underhood light it broken and wanted to order a new one. Is there a place online we can get them, and if so, can someone send me the link? I want to order the whole light from the electrical connection to the light, so it's a quick swap. Let me know. Thanks.

I have the same issue where the housing & mechanism for my under-hood light is broken, so that just replacing the bulb doesn't fix it. I have a 2000 cherokee and it is not the old-style light sold at teamcherokee.com (http://www.teamgrandwagoneer.com/cgi...light&catid=95). Does anyone know where we can buy 2000-2001 replacements? Thanks.

I have one in my 95 xj. It's off of a ford truck. (Installed by previous owner) but it's really nice. I'd just go to the boneyard if I was you guys and just search vehicles for one.

Take it apart by slipping a small, screw driver under the lens notch. Pop it off. I took all components out except those points coming directly from the plug. Soak them in vinegar to clean the copper. Pull the bullet switch, clean that with sandpaper and steel wool. Replace everything and check the fuse (15A, power distribution center, #23, 24) put it back together and replace that bulb as well.....should work.

dont worry, youre not missing out on much with it not working.
its very little use having it working. id just throw an led flashlight in the glovebox, it will give off more light.

Mine ('94 ) doesn't have the lense, just the bulb, which is a 1156, and it lights the whole area up good....
Hope I don't need to look in there in the dark anyway....

They make some really nice ones that have LED's in them that put out a lot of light, with and without retracting extension cords. My 99 had one from the factory but was missing when I got it, the plan is to go with one of the LED ones.
