Exclamation umm 4x4 not working(please help)!!!

ok so for the longest time i could not get my 4x4 to work. i can put it in 4x4 and the rear will shift down to lower gears but the front still dont spin so then people said that it probably was my vac. lines to the front, and well they were right, but i dont know what colors go with which hole. and as before i have seen that one is suspost to go to a vac. storage tank- but i cant find that either.sooo iv been stuck but after all this i tried jacking her up and spinning the wheels (to see if the front driveshaft was spinning) but it was not!! soo now i think it may be something else, but i dont know much about cherokees soo... can anybody help me? cuz my xj is lifted and all that-and if my 4x4 does not work, and i get stuck, i dont want a stock jeep pulling me out that wont look so good

im guessing it has the vacuum setup on the axle... you can either run a one piece shaft, or rig up the actuator to stay constantly engaged. a friend of mine did that by takind the actuator apart, sliding the shift fork over to the engaged position and loading it w/ washers so it would stay in the engaged position

k
now one more thing that whole asembly is so that the left side gets locked with the right side, hence the two shafts, but that is not what makes it go into 4x4. the front drive shaft has to be turning. right?

the driveshaft is always turning. the axle is basically locked in all the time, thats why you just have to pull a lever to engage the 4wd. there are no lockouts that disengage the axle

hey chiff get some full lenght axles for the passenger side then just put a block off plate over the hole left by the vac shifter this way you wont have this issue any longer.

^^ no on yours with the vacuum setup it will not always spin he is not correct. it is in the vacuum disconnect that is giving you the issues

if you are having issues with the vacuum connection it wont let the 2 piece drive shaft engage so it wont spin. try putting it in 4-high and see if the front drive shaft spins
