The u joint serial killer xj
I know there is already quite a few tread on that subject, but nothing really answered my question.
I bought my xj 10 months ago with the ujoint damaged. (the one close to the rear diff after the t case) so I changed it and greased the spline going in the t case as I had it in hand!!
When I put it back it was impossible to have a perfect fit in the same angle so I rotated the shaft 180º it did the trick! (the guy who sold me the car told me he changed the u joint 2 months before... so he probably mounted it backward!!)
Now 10 months after same problem... the shaft wiggle at the u joint and the usual clunk at accel/decal... now my next idea is to open t case and or rear diff see if everything is alright in there...
so before I start that... anyone has an other idea what can be the cause of that serial u joint killing
thx

Do you have a lift on it? Of so, you may not have the right angels for the lift. Also you should have the drive shaft checked to make sure that it isn't bent or out of balance.

You need to make sure it's straight and that it is balanced. If you look at the drive shaft you will see weights on it. If it's missing one or if the is any kind of dent or any kind of damage it can be out of balance. Checking the balance isn't something you can do at home.
