Don't be too jealous.. found out my voltage issue.. driving down the road today the voltage bounced a lil then i heard this ungodly scrubbing noise.. the alternator locked up and I had to cut the belt to drive it home

Cheap fix, and now you can throw a bigger alternator in!

Forced upgrades ftw!

The good thing is that I work at advance! Now I just have to find part numbers to see what my options are.. or I could get the one I have rebuilt to try and save money. I am leaning more to upgrading to something better than the stock 90 amp myself but we shall see what the almighty wallet permits lol.

Lil bit of an overdue update. She is still sitting in the front yard and the new alternator is on its way from the Advance auto warehouse as well as a new belt, brakes, shocks, vac line and a new battery.

Going to be tearing down the spongy brakes and going to be replacing the frozen right front caliper.

I kinda pulled a dummy thing while tightening the belt after alternator install and my wrench is what snapped it. it runs just about perfect now sans the lack of power steering now. Would it be possiable to do a powersteering delete?

Sort of, but you wouldn't want to. Reman pumps aren't that expensive, or I'm sure you can pinch one from the boneyard.

Would it hurt it all all to dive like this for a week or two until I get paid again? My toyota just went to the shop thanks to some teenager on her cellphone ramming into my car right in my own works parking lot.

If it can drive like that for just a lil bit I can order a reman from work and put it on when I get my camry back -who knows when that will be-

I'm confused now. You're talking about the power steering pump right? I just scrolled up for a description of the problem and saw stuff about the alternator lol.

Driving with power steering system but no power steering fluid is gonna suck big time.

Yeah, no fun at all, but....

As long as there is fluid in the system, I can't see how it would hurt anything.

Well, except your arm muscles!
