Default Turn signals won't work! Help!

hey all,

when i picked up my xj last week the turn signals wouldn't work all the time and would blink fast when they did. my first thought was that the bulbs were on the way out and needed to be replaced but now i cannot get them to work at all.

i put in the putco harness today and the lights are awesome now but i still have no turn signals. all 3 lights in the front both passenger and driver side will light up with the switch pulled out but the turn signals just wont kick on! brake lights work but i do not think the rear turn signals are lit up. could they be causing the problem and need new bulbs?

otherwise, am i stuck chasing the whole wiring harness for a nicked wire?
not sure if its related but my door locks are controlled by a ghost when the doors are open. they lock, unlock and generally just spaz out.

The switch on the steering column is a frequent culprit with cars in general especially if none of the signals are working.

Your wipers should still work, I've heard the multifunction switch is a pita to pull, you might try jumping it somewhere to rule it out before swapping it.

If your hazards work, then put the relay for that (shiny metal cylinder) in place with the turn signal one. If your signals work and your hazards don't then its the relay. About 3 or 4 bucks.

I need help with this. My turn signals went today. Smelt something burning, melting. Hazards do work. Where are these relays and just pull out and switch?
Sorry just trying to get my head around this for as cheap as possible.
