Default Turn Signals Sometimes work?

Im in a bit of desperate need as i can get a ticket for this.

It started a week ago when my turn signal would be engaged *didn't matter which direction* and sometimes after being on for awhile it would turn off with the handle was still engaged. Thinking it was the switch in the steering column, i replaced that but the problem has gotten worse.

Now, it's at the point that if i engage the handle, it will blink 3-5 times and then shut off. Sometime it doesn't blink at all.

When they work, everything works. It clicks, dash lights up, and the actual bulbs light up. but when it goes out, it all goes out.

If i re-engage the handle, they will turn back on but continue with the same symptoms

its a 2000

any ideas?

I agree. Probably the turn signal relay. It may be a box shape instead of round. You'll kick yourself for going thru the effort of replacing the switch when you see how easy it is to replace the relay.

Soon after I bought my jeep, it did the same exact thing. After some reading, it came down to the flasher relay under the steering column.

Pop the cover under the column off, and then the metal kick plate behind it. The relay will be to the left, its black. If you need, switch the turn signal on and you will feel it click every time they flash. I got away with unplugging mine and cleaning the contacts. You may need to purchase a new one.
