Default Turn Signals / Electrical

Hoping someone else out there can localize the problem area...

While I was driving the turn signals stopped blinking intermittently and went all solid. After a while the problem went away. I'm sure it will return again too. Hazards would also go all solid if turning them on while blinker was still switched on (and solid but not blinking). I'm sure this is coming from the steering column area. Acts like a loose wire or corroded connection or something.

I've never disassembled that area and don't know much about wiring. Anyone else have the same issue? Simple fixes or maintenance recommendations?

No bulbs or anything related has been replaced recently.

Thanks,
2000 XJ

Funny I started having the same problem about a month ago in my 2000 xj sport. Just yesterday it got pretty bad. I'm gonna try putting in a new flasher relay this weekend ill let you know if that helps any.

had same problem: try an EP27 electronic flasher relay from AUTOZONE. A bout $17.00 It goes under the dash above and to the left of the OBDII port near the hood release. If you get close turn on your turn signals to pinpoint where the relay is.

Do your hazards work normally if you don't turn your directionals on at the same time?

sounds promising. I'll see what cheif says and then most likely end up following your advice!
