Default Turn signals

Well basically, on my 88 MJ I removed a aftermarket cruuse control unit that did not work. Didnt mess with or change anything. Afterwards my turn signals (all of them) were lighting up when I braked. Moved some wires in the area i was working, under the steering column, afterwards they aren't coming on under braking. Now they're not working at all. I know this issue has to be somewhere under the dash. Swapped the flashers. Checked the fuses. I don't really know how to proceed and would like my 5 speed Jeep driveable again. Thanks

It's likely the installer did. Don't assume things were done well by whoever installed it.

Look for bad ground wires. Like it or not, you have to get under there and just start looking. There are no shortcuts on something like this.

Default elect problems

since i joined the forum i have had a belief developing that most elect troubles are caused by / inflicted on work done by someone and are not the jeeps fault other than normal part failures!
i see no evidence of any mods on my 2000,no messy wires other than my starter start wire minor extension,no real change.
and ive had zero elect trouble, bad starter yes they do die!
almost all e trouble posts involve messed up wire mods.
i have doubts that good factory grounds are much trouble as they get blamed for or get "redone"
so less mess means less trouble.
if you mess with wires, take pix ,lots.!

I'll admit, my biggest mistake was not taking pictures or the issue would be fixed. You both made a lot of good points. It feels like I've spend an eternity under the dash tring to figure it out. Even tried comparing it to my other 88 Comanches wiring, it just doesn't quite make sense.

where is the turn signal ground located and what particular wires I should be looking at?

Only the harness coming directly from the cruise unit, all hooked in under the dash using the blue clamp connectors. Didn't unplug or mess with any wires in the factory harness.

Those blue clamp connectors can damage the wires pretty severely sometimes. It's possible you have just insulation holding some of them together. If it were me, I'd get some quality (3M brand) nylon butt connectors of the correct size, cut the wire at each place where the clamp was, strip back, and reconnect using the butt connectors.

I'll give that a try. Didn't even think about that. Thank you.

we went as far as pulling the fuse box to make sure they didn't mess with anything and it was fine. Cleaned the connections, electrical grease and put it back together.

The front markers are coming on sometimes, other's not, as we mess with the harness under the dash. Trying to pinpoint which area is causing it. Also, this only happened 1ce, but I cut on my hazards and they just came on solid. Then went back to normal.

Going to mess with it more tomorrow.
