Default Turn signal/Hazard flasher problem

Whenever i put my left turn signal on my 4 ways turn on for some reason, it seems like it's usually every other time that i use my left turn signal that this happens.
Example: I put on my left turn signal and it's just the turn signal, but the next time it's the 4 ways, and after that it's the turn signal again. But it doesn't always follow this pattern
What can i do to fix this? It only happens when I use my left turn signal but not my right.

I may be wrong, others can correct me if I am, but it's possibly the flasher relay. They're known to go out. Cost like $4. I figure at that price it's worth the try.

That's what my grandfather said when he researched it for me but he isn't too good with computers and I couldn't find what he was looking at so I posted on here to make sure

And where exactly is the flasher relay, is it in the fuse box inside the cabin or is it under the hood

It looks like you have mulitiple 98 xj's with the same turn lever assembly. If i were you i would Cann the turn lever assembly from the xj that isn't having the problem and try it in the problem xj.

it's behind the panel that is below the steering wheel. Pull that panel off so you get inside the dash. The relay is directly below the headlight switch. The factory one is gray. Just pull it out and pop the new one in.

Can't, I forgot to remove my other 98 from my CF profile because I thought we were keeping it but we needed the insurance money and it would cost too much to fix it

Back to my issue, I found the relay. I don't know why but it looks like it has tape all over it like it was loose or something. Anyway I've been looking at every auto parts website for a flasher relay but I can't find one for a '98 XJ can somebody tell me where I can find one? And a junkyard is not a good option because every single XJ I have found at a junkyard is a 96 or older so the relays won't fit

Mine had the fuzz covered tape as well. Factory put it on there and it's not needed at all. Most places call it a Turn Signal Flasher. Also just noticed I put $4 instead of $14 in my previous post.

Auto Zone, NAPA, and Advance Auto don't have a 98 cherokee flasher relay. Seriously? You've got to be kidding me!

Advance Auto has them (just checked the website). In the search put flasher. It's the very first one. $14.99

Fair point - and I just noticed that the ebay link I gave is for a "used" relay.. checked out the advance auto site, def looks like a better deal.

okay.....that's what the Advance Auto link is for. It's a simple block relay. Just replaced it in mine.
