ya how old is your starter? stock? do you do much wheeling or get much water up in there? cuz it gets all coroded and some times it works and other times not but it usually goes out soon after showing symptoms. did you say you hit it with a hammer? if so it probably knocked the corosion loose or something

yeah your probably right. But no i didnt hit it with a hammer, maybe i did? hmmmmm
Jus weird how it started good, but then i turned it off and tried turning the key and no.

Ima start calling junkyards. jus got laid off and cant afford a new one, sucks, lol

Im taking off the screw and the whole thing is coming off, it has like a blue housing, is this right?
It feel like its connected in the back. If i disconnect them will it throw off the gauges?

It wouldnt be the ignition switch because when he tried to arc start it the selenoid hummed but the starter did nothing meaning that if there is power getting to the selenoid the ignition switch is good ( I mean wouldnt hurt to replace) but I should be the starter.

I got mine for 35$ at auto yard

well im about to go junkyard hunting.
My question is will all the cherokee years match?
Or do i need the same year, tranny, etc?

well i took my starter for a test and said it came out working perfect, lol.
So now ima jus switch out the ignition switch, i took out the gauges but its a really tight fit. hard too see too,
Is there another easier way where i have enough space to work with or is this the best way.
I cant drop the coulumn or anything?

ah thats the easiest i found but i do hhave small hands and i think i used a 90* angle driver and a drill with the correct socket to do it
