Default Turn indicator stuck

I was getting in my Jeep and I accidentally kneed the control arm for the turn signals. Now it’s stuck indicating left on the dash and on the blinker light. Indicating right does nothing, hazards turn on both like normal, but in all positions it still indicates left. Did I **** a wire up or can I just reset a fuse to fix it?

I'd say it sounds like the control arm has probably broken at the bottom end by the contacts.

I didn’t see any physical damage on the outside. It looks intact.

Does the switch still click as normal? What year is your XJ?

I ended up ordering a new part but if I can fix it on my own that would be good. Yes it still clicks and turning the wheel resets it, but the blinker will not change. It’s a 1995 xj.

Chances are if it is the switch itself, it won't be repairable. My best guess is something has snapped internally.

If you want to check it out before your new switch arrives then:
  • Disconnect the switch
  • Use a multimeter and set it for continuity
  • Probe pins 15 and 17
  • Pins 16 and 17
  • Pins 15 and 16
Pin 17 is the input
Pin 15 is the left rear output
Pin 16 is the left front output
These 3 pins should only be in contact during signaling and all disconnected from one another when not.

If continuity is found between all of those pins while the switch is in the rest position, internally it is making contact.

Let us know how it goes whether it's testing it or just replacing it.
