Default Tune up in stages

I'm going to tune my Jeep up, and I'm going to do it by bits - where should I start? Can I do wires one week, plugs the next, and then cap/rotor?

If I need to do it all at once, please tell me, otherwise I'm going to do it over time.

You can spread it out.

You'll get the full benefit when everything is new together, but the parts will still function normally if they are replaced one by one.

You should replace the distributor cap and rotor button together.

I figured distributor/rotor shoud be together, but I wasn't sure about wires/plugs.

Now to a follow up questions - say I wanted to do the BEST tune up - what parts shoudl I use to get the most performance/etc. out of the car?

Why not do it all at the same time?

summit racing has an Accel tune up kit which consists of cap and rotor, plugs and wires for 62bucks shipped. Just get the kit and do it all at once. Thats what I'm doin next weekend.

Buy it in pieces, install it all at once.

I would also suggest replacing the air filter if you havent already, and do a Seafoam treatment to the engine, it'll run much better.

I started by finding out what seemed most important. I bought mine late last summer. Still plenty hot. I think the very first thing I did was fix an oil leak I found (mine has a second oil filter device and the hose leading to it was leaking) then I fixed the Fan clutch.

After those 2 things were taken care of I did what I could afford. oil, diff fluid, trans fluid. all done at separate times.
