I have a 94 with a 99 engine. It'd about 90k miles on it. I want to grab some 8.8 wires any recommendations on cap coil and plugs and part numbers?

 

why the 8.8 wires and "performance" stuff? the 4.0 runs best on stock stuff, you wont notice any difference with high performance stuff.

 

I'm new to the jeep. I coke from gm smallblocks and bigblocks. Trying to learn what'd best for performance and econom

 

Good old premium tuneup parts will work just fine on the stock 4.0.....

Stay away from cheap stuff though. It is cheap for a reason.

 

So like the accelerates or summit tunevup kit on summit racing would be a good way to go instead of hopping it up. What are the champion plug numbers

 

also i think i want to change the steering stablizer any thoughts? it looks stock and the body has 256k on it.

im also in the market for step bars. nothing fancy but my 5yr old cant get in without me lifting her up and i got a bad shoulder from reconstructive surgery.

 

I usually find Napa parts to be pretty good quality even if you buy their cheaper line & I was just gonna get the cheapest wires, cap & rotor they had. Would that not be a good idea?

I figured this isn't a performance engine and these parts should be replaced every year or two anyway so why spend extra money. But if someone can explain why the 'premium' stuff is better I would like to know...

 

Most of the cheap caps I have seen have Aluminum Terminals which corrode. I would stick with a cap that has Brass Terminals over Aluminum.

 

I agree and also prefer brass. I usually go about 60k on my ignition parts before replacing and they look pretty darn good when I replace them....

 

Ahh good point. I prefer the brass terminals on distributor caps as well. For plug wires is it worth it to pay a little more or are they all about the same?

 

Stay away from el-cheapo wires and of course anything universal is OUT.

You should be able to get a good set of brand name plug wires for around $30-$50 or so.
