please settle an argument for me my buddy thinks that iroks hold up better compared to regular tsl's or even tsl sx.we both agree that they are good tires,but overall which tire holds up better to trail and street use?

 

irok's wear super fast on the street just like nitto mud grapplers do, also irok's blow in the mud,their good for rocks. The tsl will last alot longer with tread life then the irok ever will.

 

agreed! i run TSL Radials and they last way longer on the road than any IROK's every will. Plus the TSL is just as good on the rocks and even better in the mud

 

i also agree. i have iroks now, good, but not great in mud, but kicks butt on rocks.

my next set will be tsl's. but my experience is with bias ply, i'm sure radials will hold up better.

 

Go with the TSL Radials if you want to drive on the street at all. They drive as well as BFG Muds of the same size.

 

i have heard mud grapplers last well, but i don't have any personal experience with that.

I have run 36" tsl's
and 36" iroks

both bias ply.

the tsl's were square shaped, were impossible to balance, rode terribly at 0-97 mph, fit "loosely" on the rim, I constantly blew beads at 8 psi, the carcass was so soft that the lugs would fold over before they grabbed anything. They were down to about half tread after 3000 miles

the iroks, never flat spotted on me, rode smooth from 0-50, had a little wobble til about 60, and were smooth anywhere after. I never felt the need to balance those. lost a bead once at 4 psi, they hook up quite nicely.

thanks guys for the help,it does seem both tires are good,ive always known tsl's to last forever,but ive also heard they get flat spots bad.the iroks ive heard have very weak sidewalls.

Everyone I know who runs Iroks say beadlocks are a must since they like single digits. I've heard about the sidewall issues for both but of all the Interco tires the LTBs have the worst rep for weak sidewalls. And good luck balancing any swamper over a 35 since most aren't round to begin with. I'm sure someone will disagree with me but I've run TSLs from 35s up to 44 and 75% of the time the tire isn't round.

 

yeah, balancing was an issue on my 33 trxus.
but not my 36" bias ply iroks. i have no weights at all outside or inside, other than they are on beadlocks, but they ride perfectly fine. i've had it up to 110kph on a 3.5 hour drive and i can take my hands off the wheel. that's at 12psi.
and yes, i air down to about 3psi on the trails.
i've never heard of sidewall problems with these. they even have a built in rim protector on the sidewall. they are 6 ply tread and 4 ply sidewall.
but the radial version is only a 2 ply sidewall.
