Same here. Lol. Best $2 I've ever spent.

Prior to that I was using a hose clamp and had to hold the hatch in one hand and tighten the clamp (without it moving) with a screwdriver. That was one of the dumbest ideas I've ever had.

Trust me it will be worth not having the tailgate hit you. What part of kentucky are you from? Know any good off road locations?

Ideally a two person job, but you can do it yourself if prepared to give one shoulder a workout while holding up the door while using the other hand to put in the bolts.
I was cheap and just put in one strut - this will hold the door up after you give it some help.

Is there a specific size to get or are they all the same?

You'll need to get some new ones.
They cost around $16-$20 each if I remember correctly.
I bought 2 new ones for mine, and the 1st time I opened my hatch it nearly bashed me in the mouth it opened so fast!
Haha...same here...I always have to remember to back up before I get bashed in the jaw! Definitly just go with new ones. Easy to do with a pair of needlenose pliers and a screwdriver and an extra set of hands. Just give them the make and year...other than that get good quality and watch your mug. Good luck!

I bought two used ones at the wrecking yard. It was a nice warm day and they worked great. Unfortunately when the weather got cold they stopped working. They will probably work great again in the summer. I should have bought new.
