Trouble turning over?
I need to keep the key cranked for about 15 or 20 seconds until my jeep starts. is that my starter? fuel pump?

Engine: 4.0L with throttle body spacer and cold air intake, bored throttle body, #784 injector upgrade
I would see if you can rent a fuel pressure tester. If your check valve is not working then you will be having a hard start problem like this.

You shouldn't turn the starter for more than about 5 sec. or you start to overheat it causing premature failure. If the check valve is bad you should try to cycle the key a few times before starting to prime the fuel system.

it seems that cranking the key two or three times before I try to turn it over it starts up better, after I get the fuel pump primed and ready to flow fuel. so the fact that I have to crank the key a few times to prime the pump does that mean it's time for a new one?
