Default Trouble with Ignition Switch in Steering Column

Need Help Quickly

A few months ago I replaced the turn signal assembly in my 94 Cherokee with Tilt. After I put everthing together I noticed when turning the key that it did not turn smoothly, it had a slight "catch" but I was able to apply a little more torque and start the car. Sometimes there was not a "catch" at all. Every now and then the key would not turn so I had to play with it to be able to turn the key. Saturday the key would not turn so I forced it and must have broken (bent) something because I can't get the car to start even when I turn the key all the way. I thought it was the electrical switch mounted on the column, but I replaced that and still have the same problem. I'm looking for ideas, and a good book. I don't know why I had the original "catch" after I replaced the turn signal assembly.
I was thinking maybe there is an electrical switch or that is not closing that i am not aware of ?? I appreciate any help,,, THANKS Dan Hanson 309-269-3766

sounds like the ignition switch itself is shot and needs to be replaced.

My '93 did that too.. I thought it was my ignition switch and bought a new one. While I was replacing it, i found damage to the mechanical linkage, I think it was an actuator rod? Sorry, i can't remember what exactly it was but you might look inside there.
