Default trouble with brakes

Lately I've been having issues with my brakes. A couple days ago when I hit the brakes the rear tires seemed to really be getting a lot of power, and would lock up easily if I tried to stop in a hurry. Now today it doesnt seem to have much braking power to either the front OR rear tires. It will stop still, but very slowly (almost like when your braking without a brake booster)

any ideas?

cherokee breaks have a tendency to do this, usually if there is allot of moisture, though. has it been rainy? are they doing it when you first start driving, or all the way through? checked break fluid?

It has been a bit wet here as the snow is starting to melt. But its doing it all the time, even on dry roads. Fluid is good

No recent work done. The rear brakes were acting up a month ago here and there, and then it seemed to fix itself. Then yesterday it started acting up again, and now today it hardly has any brakes at all lol.

As for the locker, I love it, one of my favorite mods so far and super easy to install.

This is a good example of what I mean when I say that people ignore routine maintenance.

Your brakes are screwed up. They are going to fail again if you don't figure out and fix what is actually wrong. I hope you're not headed toward a car with children in it when they finally go.

It sounds to me that there is an intermittent issue in the master cylinder area.

+1. Brakes don't fix themselves.

check your vacuum to the booster
your master cylinder may be failing
proportioning valve may need cleaning/replacing
please get this brake problem corrected asap

Is it common for a booster to fail? Cause when it does happen its almost exactly like driving without a brake booster(but not quite as bad). It will brake but you need to give it more pedal pressure than you normally have to.

This week im probably going to track down a newer xj at the wrecker for the upgraded booster and master along with it
