I just used standard plumbing pipes I had laying around to replicate it.

I am planning to do that in a few months.

That insanely rusted water inlet pipe gives me nightmares.
How did yours come off?

The other thing is those quick connect fittings on the tranny lines.
How did you manage them? Did you hacksaw your tranny lines like a lot of people here do?

My water pipe was rusted badly just like yours. If youre doing the water pump then it just gets replaced by a new one with the new pump. Mine sprung a leak and my pump was fine. I just broke off the rusted pipe. It breaks right at the point where it becomes hex shaped for tightening with a wrench. I slipped a socket over this part and unscrewed it from my pump. I then replaced it with a water pump hose fitting for 5/8 heater hose available at most auto parts stores on the "help" rack. Teflon taped the end and screwed it into the pump good and tight. Then I just bought a new 1 foot section of heater hose and spliced it into the old one somewhere between number one and two cylinder. I used a 5/8 union off of the same help rack and 2 hose clamps. You could opt to replace the whole hose all the way up to the heater core too. I did not want to risk messing with the core for fear of causing a leak. I also had to replace a little bit of coolant as some leaked out when I broke off the tube. It helps if the vehicle is parked "uphill" as far as coolant loss is concerned. It was pretty easy to do and honestly only took about an hour and a half. I had more problems with the coolant that had sprayed from the leaky pipe all over my serp belt causing it to slip and squeal causing my voltage to dip under high load. After inspecting the old part, the inside of that tube was like new. It had rusted from the outside in. Also, the inside of my cooling system was extremely clean. I got lucky with that.

Carbuff, when you put a socket on it, was this with the radiator already removed?
It's very tight in there, with no room for a wrench of socket.
When you do a water pump, do you have the whole shroud and radiator off already?

Buy a manual and try reading. This isn't rocket science.

Bimmer, please start a new thread for your cooling system odyssey. This has gotten way out of hand and off topic, even for a troll like you. After that, maybe you can start another thread on how to check the air pressure in your tires. BTW, you will need a special tool for that.

I don't get it, for most part of my jeeps life I worked on it outside laying in the gravel with your average joe hand tools. I guess some people are just too ignorant to actually go figure something out their self and expect everyone on the internet to justify their problems lol
