Transponder Key???

If it's a gray oval key head, it's a transponder key. This type of key has to be coded to start the engine.
It is possible to code the key yourself if you already have 2 keys and are making a 3rd. Basically you buy a blank key, get it cut (cheap) and then go through the process of coding it. If you need more help I will make a writeup of how to do it.
