Which Transmssion?

I was given a two wheel drive transmission out of a Cherokee by a buddy of mines dad, and was wondering If there is anyway to tell which one I have. He didn't know what motor the Jeep had so I don't know If I have the AX5, or AX15. Can someone please help me with this?

Year: 1996 & 2001

Model: Cherokee (XJ)

Engine: 4.0

What does the tag on side trans say. Most years 96 to 2001 have aw-4 in 2 wheel drive other years I am not sure.

Year: 1990, 1999, 2000

Model: Cherokee

Engine: 4.0

ax5 is a standard transmission bolted to the 2.5L 4 cyl. engine.
ax15 is a standard transmission bolted to the 4.0L 6cyl. engine.
aw4 is an auto transmission bolted to the 4.0L also.
there was no auto tranny available for the 2.5L 4 cyl.

i'm sure 2wd transmissions were the same options.
