I'd hazard a guess that as you removed it the disk got moved. All that extra leverage with the T-Case, and you mentioned the jack wasn't really smooth. I've always used the jack mostly for the weight, (not ratchet/clamped tight), so I can still give it that "gentle touch". Hope the install goes better, and well done, (not throwing it through a wall!)

Quote: one thing ive found that really helps is to put the transmission in gear then turn the output shaft while your trying to slide the tranny in. That way if your having a problem with splines lining up they will usually slip together.

UPDATE
Team,
Thank you for your help. I bought a harbor freight transmission jack and got the trans in my pillot bearing in less than a half hour. I also replaced the clutch and lubed the input shaft. Battery is now dead so I'm going to get an Optima Red Top this weekend!

I could not have done this without y'alls help! More pictures soon!

lol i love how your in every post that i read i was just looking up and reading up on bearing noises

for future readers because there will be

1. pilot bearing goes all the way back (swapped from auto to 5spd and i didnt know)
2. easier to seperate the tranny and tcase
3. having help is awesome by my self was not fun and would have never figured out my clutch beading problem if it wasnt for free
4. wiggle like crazy

only way to get your jeep to its best is with blood sweat and tears
