Default transmission trouble

Thanks to BlueXJ my 93 jeep started but now I'm having a trans issue. When I put it into overdrive or third gear it seems to slip, but when i put into first it works fine. Is there anyone who has any clues on what the problem could be. The trans is an AW4 4 speed. Thanks in advance.

You checked the fluid, right?

You could try putting some Lucas Transmission Fix in and see what it does for you. Maybe if the valves are clogged or bands are slipping a little, it might help.

I'll try it but if the filter is clogged do you think it could cause the issue I'm having.

Couldn't hurt to look-see. Does your fluid look okay, not burned or smell burnt?

Replace your TPS and your tranny will be fine. Use a new one not a J/Y one. Trust me on this, I have done this because I bought a 96 from a buddy who said it had a bad tranny. I started doing the research and everything for the torque converter lockup is routed through the TPS. So I decided that it would be the cheapest route to go. I replaced it and that tranny has nearly 320,000 miles now and still no slip. On the second engine but the same tranny and TPS.

The TPS affects your trans and acceleration, should not affect crank/start.

..kinda off-topic, wheres the best place to purchase a new TPS?
