Default Transmission and transfer case housing unit

So I went to a mechanics shop, I drive a 1996 jeep cherokee 4x4 inline 6 4.0 with a 4.5 inch lift kit, they were putting a heavy duty alternator into the jeep for me when I asked the guy if my drive shaft was ok, so he gave it a push up and down and the whole t case and Trans was moving, he looked with a flash, and discovered that the "housing unit" that holds the Trans and t case together had a Crack in it. He said that the Trans bolts to the housing unit and the t case bolts to it aswell. Is that the correct term of the "housing unit" or does anyone else have another tech name for it and where can I buy one?

It's called a Transmission Case 4WD Adaptor.

OEM part number 83504056.

Same part number for 1988 thru 1999. For some reason the 2000/2001 adaptor changed part number.

I tried all the on-line Mopar parts sources and it doesn't show up.

I have one but I'd have to kill you if you tried to get it from me. :-)

Try the junk yards.

Default Head radio won't stay on with headlights on

I've had my radio in my truck for a month and a half now and all of a sudden last night, I had the headlights on radio was working, I changed the song and the radio played and then went off, I turned the headlights off and the radio came back on, turned the lights on and the radio turned off, my dash lights all went out including the transmission lights regardless of if the lights are on or off, did a fuse blow? Or electrical issue?

I would suspect a defective headlamp switch.

Just on GP I might clean the battery terminals. Regular maintenance to do now and then anyway.

You might give these guys a ring about that adapter. > http://onlyjeepparts.com/home.html

I think F19 in a '96 is the IOD fuse.

Probably that radio of yours is blowing the fuse. Disconnect it and see if the fuse blows.
