Transmission Slipping?
Hi guys, pretty new here, have a 91 Cherokee Laredo with 200k, with the 4.0 and aw4.
Just started daily driving it since I bought I about 4 months ago, and I've put 500 miles on it over a week.
Driving home Today I noticed if I floor it it seems like it's not accelerating like it should, engine sounds, and feels normal.
I let it cool down, and it began to accelerate normally again. After about 2 miles it started to accelerate lethargically again.
Feels like the transmission is slipping.Just wonderinf if you guys had any input.Checked tranny fluid and was full, wasn't a funny color or anything.
Thanks,
Logan

I had something similar on my 90 when I first bought it. For me it turned out that the tranny filter was plugged. Does your tranny whine or sound like the pump is labouring?
The guy who owned my jeep before me didn't do proper reg maintenance on it though. It sounds like yours has been up kept so this probably isn't your problem since your oil is nice and clean. But it is something you can look into if nothing else fixes your problem.
best of luck!

Arizona it may sound all wrong but it is your throttle position sensor causing the tranny to lock and unlock which sounds and acts like it is slipping.

I was thinking plugged filter, or even tps myself.I'm going to take it to my mechanic to see what he thinks.

Took it to joe, he saw my tranny fluid is overfilled.Thinks that may be the shifting issue.
Also noticed the knock I've been hearing at idle.Seems to think it's either the flexplate bolts, or worse, a rod bearing.
I'm clueless on how to remove tranny fluid without completely draining it.
Any ideas?
