Transmission slip.
Hey guys, I have a 1990 Xj with the AW 4 Tranny in it. My problem is that almost every time i start my truck for the first time, and drive it, The First gear always seems to Slip. dont know why but it does. It slips for a while untill i can get it to jump into 1st, after that everything works fine!!! what can be my problem? The Transmission seems fine every gear changes well after that first start.

Guess the first question is have you properly checked fluid level? It could be low and taking time to fill the torque convertor.
The proper way to measure is written on the dipstick.
