Transmission shifting woes
A couple of weeks ago, my 97 Cherokee Country CEL came on and when starting from a stop the engine rev'd had little power and slowly slipped into first. The OBD code read that there was a bad Tranny solenoid. Long story short --replaced all three solenoids and now the thing has trouble idling, and stalls out when I put it in drive and step on the gas. It feels like its trying to start in 3rd of 4th gear. did I get these things in wrong? The replacements had a slightly different design, but the packaging was correct for the parts and it said that these were a new design on the package. Is there a way of checking these w/o opening up the pan again? The CEL light is still on also.
Oh BTW new on this site!

Stevekarlo,
There's a possibility that your Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is defective.
There are tests you can do to determine the serviceability of the TPS, or you can just shotgun a new TPS. If you do, don't use a BWD TPS - they are no good.

I replaced the TPS before I did the solenoids thinking that could have been causing me the problem. It acted the same way after the new TPS was put in. I got the solenoids from Rock Auto the bag they came in had Number K97958R under that is A340E/H/F 2 Shift, 1 L/U with brackets 1985-2007. Made by ATP Automotive. It says Made in America. Just getting ready to pull down the pan again and see if perhaps I did not ground the units good or one of the wires is not connected. I don't have a OBD reader so cant see what code is with the CEL

Well am I the dope. Perhaps I should have looked at the illustration that came with the replacement kit a little closer before I put in the solenoids. I had the L/U and 1st Gear solenoid positions wrong! Switched the solenoids and its working GREAT! Actually feels like it is driving better than it has in a while. Great shift points and off line starting!
