Good point... I would consider those a 4wd conversion project.

Regardless of your thoughts, the XJ has developed a cult following since its introduction. I'm no youngster, and I still look at them regardless of 2WD, 4WD, sotck, lifted, etc. They've become the basis for various sorts of customs.

My '96 is mostly stock, and I bought it new. As much as I would like to modify it into a more offroad capable rig, my 860 mile road trip last weekend tells me to leave it alone....39.6gallons for 21.7mpg combined 70mph superslab and 35-55mph on the Blue Ridge Parkway from south central PA to NC and back.

I keep thinking I should buy another, maybe a 2 door, and lift it....I saw LOTS of them for sale in Va. Actually, they seem to be everywhere, and THAT is why they have become the basis for whatever their owners' want.

Silly Indeed...but amusing just the same! I'm strictly off road myself; but I thought it was cool as ***** to see on popping a wheelie off the line. You would think someone that went through the trouble to do that would have to have another one on 38's+...lol

just putting in on the whole racing thing i would love to find a 2wd comanche, stroke it and and put a wrangler six speed, just to eat ricers, i'd also put a sticker that says "you just got beat by a jeep"

the ricers in my area like to think their cool cause they can beat lifted jeeps and trucks alike so i would like to do that just to **** them off. show them a jeep can be fast it it wants to be. but i would keep it off road capable turn it in to kind of a trohpy/drift truck type set up so it would be good on the road but still hold its own off road,

i haven't heard alot about the 6 speed wrangler i just like the extra gear in that case i would prolly stick with the ax-15, what kind of problems do they have?

two reasons for 2wd first: weight the less i have the less money i would have to put in to the engine, second: its easier to find 2wd comanches in my area for some reason.
