On a 2Wd Automatic Transmission does 1st gear shift high. Cause the 2wd tranmission in my jeep in 1st gear wont shift till about 3500 RPMs. IS this normal.

yeah may want to check the TPS.. that is WAY high.. on later 4.0's you way past the power curve..

 

so could the transmission me going bad.

 

Your TPS controls the tranny shift. There is also a kick down cable which controls line pressure. The cable has a button on it which you can set to ZERO then rotate your throttle body linkage to full throttle and it adjusts it to what it should be.

The TPS has screws for adjustment on 1990 models. I think they took that away for 1992.

I would check the cable first.

 

Only the Renix era Jeeps have adjustable TPS (87-90)

 

is there a "write up" somewhere about that.

 

Be more specific That what. The adjustable TPS yes but you don't have one. If you are refering to the kick down adjustment it is in your FSM if you got that to load for you.
