transmission seal removal

Question transmission seal removal

hey guys if anyone knows how to remove the transmission seal on a 2 wheel drive xj please some help my seal went bad a few months ago now im starting to lose alot of fluid an need to replace it whats the easiest way to do it thanks for the help

Pull the drive shaft, pry out the old one, and tap in a new one. Replace drive shaft.

never pulled the drive shaft before is there anything i need to make it easier an will i need to drain all the fluid ?

Chock the front tires so it won't roll. Raise the rear end until the tires are about 8-10"s off the ground then support the rear axle with jack stands. Then the trans shouldn't leak much when you remove the drive shaft. Have a pan handy just in case a little comes out. That's how I'd do it. Someone else might chime in with another opinion.

Take it loose from the rear axle yoke. Use a regular wrench, I think it's 12 or 13 MM, and put a big screwdriver through the joint to keep it from rotating as you loosen the bolts/nuts. Loosen them all just a little before removing any of them. Reverse to re-install.
