I replaced the transmission seal with a new one and it is still leaking, albeit just seeping and a small drip.
A little history...

Transmisson was rebuilt about 2 years ago, I read about a bushing that should be replaced behind the seal so I checked it with a flashlight before installing the seal and as far as I could see and feel it was good. The seal I pried out was not bottomed out into the case, I read it is supposed to be.

The other seal was completely trashed and was flinging fluid all over and one of the cooler lines was smashed and there were 2 other leaks, all of wich I have fixed.


Could the driveshaft or bad U joints cause the seal to leak?

which seal? checked the vent tube yet?

 

Its the mail rear transmission seal on a 2 wheel drive XJ.
What vent tube?
Where is that?

 

How did the transmission cooler line get smashed? Fluid level correct?

I have no idea how it got smashed, It was like that when I bought it but it was obvious to see when I was fixing a leak on the other cooler line LOL....
Yea, fluid is up to level, but one thing is odd is that it looks really clean and clear.
