Default Dome Light and switch question?

My dome light works when I open the door, but when I twist the (light) switch all the way to the left it does not come on?
Other than the switch being faulty, is there anything else that might cause this situation?

THANKS.

Sounds like a bad switch. They aren't expensive and not too hard to replace. Does the switch dim the instrument panel when the headlights are on? Usually, the dimmer goes first.
