Default Transmission Problems

Lately I have been having issues with my XJ when shifting into drive it seems to not have any power when shifted into gear. First and the second-third gear work fine as well as when it gets up to speed. Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be?

I'm guessing you have the automatic, check your fluid if it is low top it off. If it looks or smells burnt change the filter and top off, a filter change removes about 75% of the fluid, run it a week and do it again. It's up to you if you change the filter a second time, but you will have to unbolt it to get more of the fluid out.

Where is the trans filter? Is it easy to get to?

Well it is in the tranny pan and is actually more of a screen than a filter
