I have a 97 xj with 300k miles on it. I just purchased it three months ago. Three days after I bought it i was told by the transmission shop my tranny needed to be rebuilt. instead of having it rebuilt for 2500 i bought a used one for 275 and had a shop put it in. Now two months later my tranny is acting up again.

It makes a whining noise that gets louder as the rpms go up. sometimes it will only drive in 1-2 not 3 or drive. sometimes it has trouble shifting, it will rev and once it gets to much i let off and then eventually it will shift. I did a engine coolant drain and fill and some coolant spilled all over the engine (god damn dogs) so I am worried that it may be something electrical. Please help me. any information would be helpful!!!

 

Check your throttle position sensor, we had one go out in our 94 chevy pickup and it caused the tranny to not shift right.

 

So I came up with three codes.

P0121
Throttle/ pedal position sensor range/performance

P0700
Transmission control system

P0756
Shift solenoid b performance or stuck off

And a new symptom is it idles at around 2k now do I think I will start with the tps. Any thoughts?

 

Ok so I've switched the solenoids and the tps. And it runs a ton better but the small wining still and the idles is still way high
