Transmission problem
Hello everyone, I'm new to this useful forum. I bought a Jeep for 1000 bucks, its a 1993 with the I6 Auto with 156k miles 2wd.
The jeep has an issue when shifting into drive it takes about 5 seconds for the car to actually start moving when put into drive and when it does it jerks forward. If you accelerate gently when placed into drive the issue dissapears but if you shift it in drive and press the accelerator as you would do normally it doesnt move for sometime then it kicks in hard. Any suggestions what the cause of this? I have not checked the transmission fluid, I just got it today, I should start there but has anyone had this same problem? where do I look next?
Thanks, in advanced

Check your fluid first, you may have a tranny line leak.If you need to replace fluid, check under your jeep while running for any drips.

Thanks for everything guys.. shifting is fixed...however I found the leak.
The leak is coming from the transmission where it meets the saft to the rear wheels. You can see a fresh trace of oil at the tip of the transmission and you can see where the shaft has been splashing it around the body of the jeep in that area as it spins. How is this ring seal replaced? is it difficult? you can also see that the shaft has slipped out a bit from the transmission.
Thanks.
