transmission not shifting

transmission not shifting

Having a problem when i put jeep into drive nothing happens shut it down and restart it goes into gear. Sometimes I have to go thru this process a few times inorder to get it to go into gear. Its a grand cherokee laradeo 4.0 with 4 wd auto trans.

neutral safety switch.
take it off, clean it and grease it.

Not the NSS, all that does is prevent you from starting the Jeep in anything other than park or neutral.

its prolly your tcu suggest gettin one from junkyard and throwing it in there and see what happens, on the cherokee is on the pass side behind the kick panel is a box about the size of an index card
