transmission leaks out filler
Hi all
Please I need help, this is driving me nuts
I have a pretty much stock cherokee 1996 xj 4.0 sport.
Ive had a ongoing problem with the transmission pushing oil out of the fuller tube, I have blown out the cooler and cooler lines, replaced filter, oil(mopar) and the problem has just gotten alot worse, while I was driving home today, it emptied the transmission in about a 40km drive, got to top up with about 2lt.
I had a guy tell me I need to overall the tranny, surely this could be someting simple?

You may want to check if the transmission oil pump breather vent is plugged. The vent fitting is near the transmission dipstick tube. It's a bad location for a vent.
The vent is a simple device that looks like the front differential upper vent on the driver's side of the engine bay.

When your transmission/engine is cold, as in sitting overnight, is the transmission fluid level at, or just above, the FULL mark on the dipstick?
When starting the engine (cold) does the transmission fluid level on the dipstick immediately drop to near the bottom of the dipstick?
