Angry Transmission Knock/rattle

I have an almost oscillating knock or rattle coming from my tranny/rear of engine area. I removed the tranny inspection cover and tightened the 4 or so bolts i could reach and it did not help. i can hear it in the cabin and feel in the floor but cant hear or feel it from outside or under the xj. It doesn't do it as bad when its in neutral. it sounds like something it spinning and hitting something as it is spinning. any ideas are welcome. Thanks guys

no its not a rod knock... im 99% sure at least. it doesn't do it consistently like a rod knock. and it would do it neutral if it was. thanks for the input though

I checked the motor mounts and they are tight. i will check the exhaust again to make sure it is not hitting anything but i don't think its that because it doesn't do it in neutral... this is a stumper. I even had a mechanic buddy look it over and he had no idea. When i first asked him about he said flexplate then when he drove it he said its not the flex plate and he couldn't figure out what it was.
