Default Transmission Issue

ok heres the backround, 01 xj 4.0 auto aw4 120xxx. was about 150 miles into my trip down to rousch when i was getting a slight "bump" in rpms. about 100-200 for only a second then it would go back down. it did this intermittently the rest of the trip. now when im at a stop for 5-10 sec the tranny takes a moment to catch 1st gear like its in neutral. all other gears shift great along with upshifting and downshifting. replaced the TPS and still same issues. hoping im not in for a big $$ fix. thanks in advanced

No codes i gather.

I know i have read about some shift solenoids above the filter in the tranny. Dunno what they cost but id expensive start with a filter change and new tranny fluid.

Only code was a cylinder 3 misfire, ill look into the solenoids. Just don't want to dump the cash on a rebuild if I don't have to

That "bump" is probably the TCC unlocking momentarily. Tap your brake while cruising on the hwy, that'll unlock the TCC...you'll probably see the same thing.
Do you catch 1st right away if you shift manually?
Hows the fluid level and condition?

It catches manually, but it seems to be going through tranny fluid

If the transmission fluid level is low, it would cause the transmission to act up.

I tapped the brakes while driving. The rpms b4 only raised 1-200 not like when I hit the brakes
