Default Transmission help aw4 (98 trans in 97)

Bought my first jeep not to long ago for pretty cheap. New it needed some work. Found out the the bell houseing had broke causing to take part of the transmission body with it. Had big as hole. Got a 98 aw4 from a pick an pull. Now can't get it to shift on its own. Shifts fine manually, but acts like it in 3 when put into over drive. Cleaned the nss, check brake switch, checked tps. Same thing. Tried the 98 tcm. Nothing. Swapped output doped sensor and rotor. Swapped soleinods, nothin. Have it wired up so can control torque converter lock up. Guessin stumped. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

It was shifting fine with old transmission. Just leaked a lot of oil.

If you measure the solenoid resistance at the TCU plug, do you see 11-13 ohms each?
I'm wondering if there is a wiring problem with the new trans.

I checked them at the plug by the dipstick and when I had them out with the pan off. Didn't check at the tcu though.

The 98 is not a direct swap for a 97.

The 97 has a 2 fingered reluctor, the 98 has a 4.

The 97 has an output speed sensor, the 98 has an input and output speed sensor.

The tailcones are different.

The harnesses are different.

I swapped the output speed sensor, rotor and tailcone. The input is not hooked up. I did try hooking it up with the 98 tcu. No difference.

Finally got a chance to check at tcu. Torque converter has 13. Knew it was good since i have been controlling it manually anyway. Other 2 are open line. As long as I got the right wires which I'm sure I do. White then orange/white. But at the plug under the good by the dipstick i get 12-13 on all 3. My question is where do the other 2 wires run to before to the grey plug by dipstick?
