transmission: HELP!!!
so my jeep, the one with 366,000 miles on it is having some transmission problems. i changed the transmission fluid and filter and accidentally put about a quart to much of fluid in it when filling it back up... not knowing this i drove it to work. it worked fine but when on the way home it started to down shift really fast and then return. the shifting got weird and i had to limp home at 25mph... i drained the fluid and that helped but its still there. can any one help?

Maybe you tcu is acting up, I've put in too much fluid a few times in other cars and never had a problem. If this was the fist time you have ever changed the transmission fluid I could see that doing this.

A tcu is a transmission control unit.
Pretty much the transmission computer, which controls shifting.
But that doesn't cover the fact you still have a knock.
Do you have an auto or manual?
If you have a manual trans typically overfilling wont hurt it.
In an auto trans though when you over fill the fluid you may bust some seals up.
I do not think that what your experiencing has anything to do with you overfilling it.
just coincedence.
but since you do indeed hear knocks then my advice would be to drop the trans and find out whats going on.
Knocking is usually from something being broken inside the trans.
My guess is it sounds like you need a new trans or rebuild it.
