Default Transmission fluid and front driveshaft questions

I took my jeep to have the tranny and torque converter swapped out. What is the required fluid needed for it? Aw4 tranny.
The junkyard I got it from told me it didn't have any problems but I have to go buy the fluid either way. How much do I need and what kind? Any recommended additives?

Also, when I bought my jeep the a**hole PO didn't tell me it didn't have a front driveshaft. He didn't say anything about it so I don't know why he took it off. Is there anyway to test the transfer case without having the driveshaft in place? Whenever I shift between 2wd, 4hi, and 4lo it never grinded. What are the chances I buy a driveshaft and put It on and it opens a whole other can of worms?
Can I get the bolts/hardware for it anywhere? What size are they?
I'm posting from my phone and it doesn't let me search so sorry for all the questions.
Thanks!

Transmission fluid is Dexron III. No additives necessary. My factory service manual (1996) calls for 8 liters in the AW4 transmission.

As far as the driveshaft, take it is a learning experience and make sure to look underneath, as well as every other inch of a car when buying and make sure everything is ship shape. You're gunna need a replacement drive shaft to test out 4wd and the transfer case.

I'm gunna assume that all you'll need to get the drive shaft in there is the drive shaft itself, 2 ujoints and 2 sets of ujoint straps. You might need a couple yokes as well but I assume those are already there. The drive shaft must have been taken out for a reason (I've heard of people taking it out to minimize vibrations in lifted xjs, which would be your best case scenario) so putting one in might very well have its problems. But you'll never know till you do it. Make sure to report back with your findings
