Default transmission fluid blew out filler

I've got a 99 XJ. I pulled over at the top of a long steep highway hill. As I was coming to a stop, some tranny fluid blew out the filler tube. It looked like less than a quart. The jeep was warm but not hot. I let it cool down a bit and carried on, with no issues.
Is this something I should worry about, it seems to work fine now. No shifting issues or overheating.

Check the level first chance you get.

Note the color of the fluid.

I've been driving it the last couple of days. Seems to be working fine. I just had a lube and oil change done, I'm thinking (hoping) they may have overfilled the transmission.
I've got an appointment to have the transmission serviced next week, see how it goes.

when mine happened, nothing was done prior or after

levels were good before and after

it just happened, and never has happened again.

Your not going to attempt to check the level of the fluid in the transmission? Transmission fluid mixed with exhaust systems don't end well.

Hold on...

The only service that needs to be done is a drain and fill. There is no filter. Only a metal screen.

Save yourself some money.

Yepper,, the filter is just a screen and has no real filtering properties beside keeping large things out of the trans..

Look at post 19

Quick lube shops = Bad things will eventually happen !

I would add to the above advice, Check the vent tube. Not likely but free to check.

Wow crazy,,lol. Now thats an odd situation. It must of crawled down a vent tube or something.

I wonder if he did any drain and refills before cutting the filter open to find that?
I would sure think a few good ones would of purged that right out..
