Default Transmission coolant lines

I can't figure out how to get the transmission coolant lines off of the transmission. It is a 2000 cherokee 4.0 I think its the aw4.

I use pliers or needle nose pliers to grab the plastic clip. Wiggle and pull out.

You might need to pick up a special tool. I had to do this recently and it took me a long time, even with the tool to remove the transmission lines.

Look for a 3/8" quick disconnect tool at autozone. should be just a couple bucks.

I just replaced one of my transmission lines, and all I had to do to remove the line from the transmission side was squeeze the two peices of the plastic clip that stick out and the line pulled right out.

Mine were so corroded I had a shop replace both of them. I was afraid to break the threads off in the tranny

you don't need to unthread anything, just depress the 2 sides of plastic clip, wiggle and pullout. Reinstallation can be a b!tch, I've bought the quick connect rebuild kit, but I'm done with those...I've moved to Modified Tech and unthreaded the quick connect ports and replaced with AN fittings.

The newer models (97 and up I think) don't have the plastic wings that help you get the connection off. It does help to use the quick connection tool, or if you have some 3/8' tubing/pipe, you could use that to slide in and depress the 4 connectors inside the housing.

My '98 has the plastic clips holding the lines into the trans. I've pulled and reinstalled them more times than I care to admit. The other end of the lines where they attach to the radiator do not, though. I used a fuel line disconnect tool to get that end off.
