I always hate buying junk yard electronics though when you can get all 3 solenoids brand new for $190 at bulkautoparts.com. I just hate haveing to fix the same problem down the road again. I put them in and haven't had a problem since.

Just curious and wanting to be sure this is my problem.
My tranny does not shift automatically. It feels like it's in a higher gear but, when I shift it manually it works fine but, will not shift into Overdrive. Does this sound like it is the solenoids as well? Just trying to confirm. I don't have any issues manually just no overdrive.
Thank you all again for your awesome help
I love this site.

Does anyone have a picture of the location for the Transmission Control Module? I pulled out my glove box today and didn't see it.
Thanks for the help.

Under the dash....Silver box.
My 98 was doing the same thing (Converter would not lock on highway) and replacing the module fixed it.

Thanks for the help. Actually I replaced all 3 solenoids and haven't had a problem since. I think I flushed the tranny about 4 times and replaced the filter twice. Working great now.

Hi, I am new here. I have a 1998 jeep cherokee limited. She sometimes will not shift into second gear and my gages go out at the same time. I can park her and try again a few hours later and she works just fine. Manually shifting does nothing. I went to advanced auto and she is throwing 3 codes. p1698, p0700 and my tps which I replaced 3 times. I am at a loss of what to do. Is there anyone who has any idea. I love my jeep and would like to keep her but I can not drive her like this.
