i just got my jeep about a month ago. 2 days ago i wake up and drive to school and it sounds like somethings grinding. i know its the transmission for sure but it grinds real lound in first gear then 2nd gear u cant hear it anymore.
Anyone ever have this prob?

$1800 seems excessive to me. You should be able to pick up a low mileage one from a Junkyard or Craigslist for a couple hundred, tops.

Oh, dang. Too bad it's going bad so soon, I'm gonna have a spare one sometime this fall when I swap mine for a 4wd unit.
Just to be sure, are you sure it's not the u-joint on the driveshaft?
